Vashpa Swedan (Ayurvedic steam) is an ancient Indian therapy that involves the use of steam to detoxify and rejuvenate your body, mind, and spirit. This age-old therapy has been practised for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine. It is also called a steam bath or steam sauna.
During a Vashpa Swedan treatment, a person is made to sit inside a specially designed chamber or room filled with steam. The steam is derived from a blend of boiling water, herbs and essential oils, such as eucalyptus, lavender, or mint, to enhance its therapeutic benefits. The steam induces perspiration from the body, which removes toxins, improves blood circulation and reduces inflammation.
